« The landscape is the link between our outside self and our inner self » Bill Viola
The project PIELES is born from a long trip to Latin America. It invites us to approach and to live the landscape through the body. Sculptures come to life to integrate and interact with diverse horizons creating a poetic and an ephemeral dialogue. Precious moments where, the body placed under the survival blanket, enters into an harmonious relation with its environment. A sensitive and intuitive experience that is revealed as a kind of ritual, a kind of farewell, in view of the degradation of our natural environment and its resources. Thus, the created sculptures take the form of ephemeral monuments that celebrate the existence of these endangered places. The photographic captures become the trace of this intimate exchange.
The survival blanket reminds us once again of the obvious fragility and vulnerability of our Mother Earth but also the precariousness of our relationship to the world.
The project continues to expand around the world in different countries and regions to create a global memorial to the Earth.
PIELES has been exhibited in the Cultural Center A Seis Manos in Bogota, Colombia in August 2016. In 2017, at La Maison de l'Amérique Latine in Strasbourg, at Pol’n space in Nantes and at La Maison de l’Amérique Latine in Marseille. Recently, PIELES won the third place of PRIX AMMA 2019, with jury chaired by Philippe Dagen at Bastile Design Center in Paris.
